Legal fees

Legal and other service fees

Dear clients,

You will find several fees mentioned on our pages and posts on this site. Most of them are for reference purposes only and are subject to change. Costs and details for third-party services should be clarified directly with the company mentioned. IdeaCOM does not endorse any of the links, services or products. Links and information are provided for convenience purposes only.

Regarding our fees as well as those services we handle on behalf of clients, we have tried to bring you valuable approximations to facilitate your search for information. We have outlined, on some of our pages, fees we charge, fees paid to notaries and fees paid to government agencies to process paperwork, such as for FM3s, registering corporations, etc.

Below we are outlining some of our most common legal and other service fees for your convenience. Consult us for fees related to your specific case.

As you have come to know, we consult on many matters, legal and otherwise, some of which are mentioned below. We are very passionate about what we do and very much enjoy providing information that makes people’s lives smoother. That information, knowledge and competence is the service we offer. For that reason, we must charge our consultation services:

  • Legal matters
  • Insurance
  • Incorporation
  • Buying and selling property
  • Settling in
  • FM3 documents
  • Trusts
  • Vehicles
  • Permits

Guideline of fees:

  • Consultation, interpreting and other services - phone or in person, legal services or lawyer, $464 pesos per consult or per hour or portion (lengthy consultations will be assessed a different fee), in the case where the client decides to have IdeaCOM perform the legal service that was consulted, the initial consultation fee will be deducted from the next invoice
  • Consultation - phone or in person, other professional services, $464 pesos per consult or per hour or portion (lengthy consultations will be assessed a different fee), in the case where the client decides to have IdeaCOM perform the legal service that was consulted, the initial consultation fee will be deducted from the next invoice
  • Translation and interpretingplease see this page for details on interpreting services, please send us your translation project for a quote, fees vary depending in size, technical complexity and other factors of the original document
  • Copies - we charge 1 peso per sheet for photocopies taken in the office (keep in mind, in Mexico many copies are usually required, we recommend you be prepared and bring sufficient copies to the office)

Important note: The difference in fees between lawyer and other professional service fees is not determined by who attends to your matter or provides the consultation but rather whether a lawyer and legal advice are required. For example, we have several competent, bilingual and knowledgeable people that represent condominium owners as proxies at assembly meetings. If the client requires that a lawyer be present, or attend to his/her matters, the lawyer fee applies. If the client requires a representative that does not have to be a lawyer, we will determine which person will attend the meeting, according to our availability, in agreement with the client, and the client will be charged the other professional service fee, even if a lawyer is the representative during that particular assembly.

Examples of when fees are assessed and invoiced to the client:

  • Phone consultations about legal and other matters
  • Acting as legal or other representative
  • In-person consultations about legal and other matters
  • Attending to matters for clients involving notaries, the tax office, the Mexican social security office, government, immigration, etc.
  • Meetings held in our office or outside our office
  • Research and searches on behalf of the client
